If you’re making sugar cookies in a country where sprinkles can’t be found to decorate them, here’s a trick to making some beautiful sprinkles to add to the top of your cookies!
- Mix a few drops of food coloring into a few tablespoons of water (any color you want).
- Add this mix to a 1/2 cup of sugar and mix it around until every grain is stained the color you want.
- Pour the contents onto wax paper, a brown paper bag, or some other paper if you don’t have these.
- Spread it out into a thin layer and sun dry.
You’ll end up with sprinkles that have a naturally sweet taste! We did this in Chiang Mai, Thailand, to fill the void for Christmas cookies!
